What I discovered: (I had to work alone because no one loves me)
I watched the following videos to truly appreciate Diigo Video 1: This video gives a great summary about how to use Diigo
I have always resisted getting into social bookmarking because I have several website that allow me to post my favorite sites. However, after looking into Diigo, it has some great features. I like the fact that my personal networks can grow. I wrote a book on Integrating technology in the Classroom and by getting my name (Kidsnetsoft) out there, I have a better chance of selling my book. I am also interested in sharing resources with the world that might help people improve their classroom lessons. I am also hungry for knowledge, so by being a part of the Diigo community, I can access resources that will enhance my ability to teach better. New ideas are always welcomed. In the field of technology in education, I don't have time to stop learning if I want to stay competitive in my profession.
Diigo in the classroom: This video demonstrates how a librarian uses Diigo in the classroom. This can be a great resource for students to share valuable sites with their peers. They can contribute positively to their community, which is valuable for 21st Century learning. Students look at sites and provide the ones they deem valuable for themselves and their peers. They can improve their language arts skills by providing well written summaries about the sites as well.
I found it interesting that you can highlight information you find relevant for whatever reason and set it up so that that highlighted information will be available when you revisit that page through your Diigo account. I found it interesting that you can use a snapshot tool that allows you to archive a site that can be available later in the event that that site no longer exists. You can captures screen shots and share with your peers or online community. For me it could be valuable because I use screen shots to make many lessons for my classes.
Diigo is also accessible on mobile platforms such as the iPhone, iPad. This is great for those of you who are totally connected.
